He accomplished practically everything he ever wanted.
He changed the way people saw him. He made them see him as a hero, instead of a monster. He rid the world of an enormous threat by defeating and putting an end to the life of Uchiha Madara.
After that, the young man would get married, and not long after, most in Konoha felt nothing but joy as he became the new Hokage.
But, all was not well, not quite yet. Not while Sasuke was still at large, planning to destroy Konoha.
A few years, however, would pass before the two met again. Naruto, at first, still believed he could make Sasuke return with him.
Soon enough, however, he realized... such would not happen.
Thus the two fought fiercely, ruthlessly.
Yet in the end... there was no victor.
Sasuke perished, but... not before dealing a fatal blow to his former friend.
Everyone thought it was all over after that. Sasuke was dead. Most Akatsuki members were dead, and the organization itself seemed to be dismembered. Orochimaru was also gone... there would be peace now, right?
Wrong.
While Konohagakure was recovering from both the battle against the Akatsuki and Sasuke, and the loss of their Hokage...they were attacked. Iwagakure ninja, taking advantage of their moment of weakness, attempted to kill Naruto's appointed successor, Sarutobi Konohamaru.
Unfortunately for those sent to do so... Konoha was not as weak as one thought.
Still, when confronted about it, Iwagakure openly declared war against Konoha.
When Suna heard of what happened, they launched an attack against Iwa themselves.
But shinobi from Taki intercepted their men before they even got close to Iwagakure.
Soon after, Kumogakure, along with Kirigakure, attacked Iwa as well, as much as they were unsuccessful...
...Imagine you’re on your way back from a very important mission. In your pack there is a scroll that could make or break the war. Just as you enter your boarders, you stumble upon fallen comrades, most dead. Do you continue your mission and deliver the scroll? Or, do you stop and check for any friends left alive, even if it could be a trap?
The fifth shinobi war has been raging on for the past eleven years and it appears to have no end. The villages have split up and allied, each seemingly at a stalemate. Many have died, many have permanent injuries.
For those who still live, they wait and wonder if they’ll be sent to the front lines or if they will be sent on war related missions, some even suicide missions. ANBU was even seeing a high number of jounin enrollments, because ninja want to help their village and their allies.
Where do you stand? Which village will you belong to?
Will it ever end?
That remains to be seen.
